2-Cyanoguanidine is an nitrile derived from guanidine. It is a dimer of cyanamide, from which it can be prepared. 2-Cyanoguanidine is a colourless solid that is soluble in water, acetone, and alcohol, but not nonpolar organic solvents.
Application
(1) as guanidine salt, melamine diamine raw materials. Dicyandiamide with acid reaction, can produce all kinds of guanidine salt. Dicyandiamide and phenyl cyanide by the reaction of benzoguanamine is a paint, laminates, molding powder intermediates. (2) as dye fixing agent, dicyandiamide and formaldehyde reaction of dicyandiamide resin, can be used as dye fixing agent.
