Creatine is a substance composed of three amino acids: arginine, glycine and methionine. It can be synthesized by the body or ingested from food. Creatine is a naturally occurring amino acid in the body that rapidly increases muscle strength, promotes new muscle growth, speeds recovery from fatigue, and improves explosive power.


The more creatine you have in your body, the more strength and movement you have. Not only does it provide quick energy (the body relies on ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, for energy, but the body has very little of it. It is quickly used up during exercise, so creatine can quickly resynthesize ATP to provide energy). It also increases strength, builds muscle and speeds recovery from fatigue. The more creatine stored in the body, the more adequate the energy supply, the faster the recovery from fatigue, and the stronger the exercise energy. When energy consumption is high, the body needs about 5 grams of creatine per day.


Creatine is divided into creatine monohydrate and other creatines, of which creatine monohydrate is the most commonly used and useful.
