1. 2,2' -dithiopyridine is a nucleocapsid zinc finger-targeting compound that can eliminate infectivity of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 virions. 2. 2,2' -dithiopyridine is a useful reagent for the determination of sulfhydryl groups, the preparation of active amino acid esters and thiophosphate esters. It can act as a peptide coupling agent and oxidant, and is also used in the activation of glycosides.
