1. Product Description:

Cobalt Nitrate is the inorganic cobalt(II) salt of nitric acid, often with various amounts of water. It is more commonly found as a hexahydrate, Co(NO3)2·6H2O, which is a red-brown deliquescent salt that is soluble in water and other polar solvents.

3.method of manufacturing:


1. Add nitric acid to cobalt hydroxide or cobalt phosphate and recrystallize after the reaction. Or react with cobalt metal and nitric acid, add cobalt phosphate, adjust the pH value, filter to remove ferric hydroxide, and then acidify with nitric acid, evaporation crystallization, can be prepared cobalt nitrate. In the synthesis method, 30% ~ 32% nitric acid is added into the acid-resistant reactor with stirring, and cobalt metal particles are added slowly under stirring for reaction. When the reaction is nearly complete, steam is heated to drive out the nitrogen oxide gas, and the solution is sent to the resolver. Under stirring, cobalt carbonate is added to adjust the solution to pH 5, and the temperature is kept at 80 ~ 90℃ for 1 day. The precipitation of ferric hydroxide was removed by filtration while hot, and the filtrate was acidified with nitric acid to pH > 1, then evaporated and concentrated to the relative density of 1.6-1.7. After cooling, crystallization and centrifugal separation, the finished product of cobalt nitrate was obtained. The reaction formula is as follows: nitrogen oxide gas escapes during the reaction process, which is toxic. The treatment method is referred to the absorption method of sodium nitrate production.

2. Dissolve cobalt trioxide hydrate or cobalt carbonate in dilute nitric acid, filter, reduce pressure concentrate filtrate, after cooling to obtain cobalt nitrate hexahydrate (Ⅱ).
3. Reagent nitric acid with density of 1.4 was dissolved in hot water at volume ratio of 7∶ 10, and cobalt trioxide reagent was added in small amounts under ventilation conditions for reaction. At the later stage of reaction, a small amount of formalin was added in batches, and the solution gradually became transparent. Heat for 30 minutes and strain while still hot. The filtrate evaporates until a crystalline film appears, cools to 5 ~ 10℃ for crystallization, absorbs and filters, rinses the crystallization with a small amount of water, gradually heats up to 40 ~ 50℃, and dries until the crystallization is non-stick glass rod. After the mother liquor is acidified, a certain amount of pure cobalt nitrate can be obtained.
3. Slowly add nitric acid with a density of 1.40 to the reagent cobalt hydroxide under stirring until it has a weak acidic reaction to Congo red: heat the solution to 70 ~ 80℃, add a small amount of 30% hydrogen peroxide under stirring, and filter while hot.

 4.application:

Used for preparation of catalyst, hidden ink, cobalt pigment, ceramics, sodium cobalt hexanitrite, etc., also used as cyanide poisoning antidote and paint desiccant used in the manufacture of desulfurization catalyst, cobalt pigment, paint desiccant, vitamin B12 additives, hidden ink, picture tube shell, ceramic colorant, etc., is the raw material for the manufacture of cobalt salt, pigment and ink, used as a catalyst in the chemical industry. Used as analytical reagent, also used in the manufacture of cobalt pigment and catalyst used as analytical reagent, cobalt pigment and catalyst preparation, sapphire polishing paste ingredients, thyristor tube core processing, etc.
