L-ascorbyl palmitate, also known as ascorbyl-6-palmitate, ascorbyl palmitate, is a white or yellowish-white powder with a slight citrus odor.
1. Product Description:
Ascorbyl palmitate is an ester formed from ascorbic acid and palmitic acid creating a fat-soluble form of vitamin C. In addition to its use as a source of vitamin C, it is also used as an antioxidant food additive (E number E304). It is approved for use as a food additive in the EU, the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.
Ascorbyl palmitate is known to be broken down (through the digestive process) into ascorbic acid and palmitic acid (a saturated fatty acid) before being absorbed into the bloodstream. Ascorbyl palmitate is also marketed as "vitamin C ester".

4.method of manufacturing
（1）. Put 64g palmitic acid into a heating drop funnel to make it in a molten state; Will be 200mI. Dichlorosulfoxide was put into the flask and heated to make the vapor enter the reaction column equipped with porcelain ring packing through the catheter and react with palmitic acid dripped from the top of the column. The unreacted dichlorosulfoxide was condensed through the branch tube on the top of the reaction column and returned to the flask. A small amount of dichlorosulfone was removed by atmospheric distillation, and 58.6g of colorless transparent liquid was collected in 150-152 ℃(2-3kpa) fractions by vacuum distillation. The yield (calculated by palmitic acid) was 86%.
（2）. Add 26.5mL to the flask. Dimethylformamide was injected with 2g HCl gas at 0℃, then 9.69g crystalline ascorbic acid and 13.3mL were added. Dichloromethane, then the reaction liquid clarified; Slowly drop 15.2mL palmitoyl chloride at 0℃, react for 18h, and then heat up to 20℃ for 30min. Add the reactant to 100mL. Ethyl acetate and 200mL. Stir and wash in water for 2 hours, and use water after pumping and filtering (50mL
×3) after washing for 3 times and vacuum drying at 50℃ for 18h, 17.5g white powder was obtained, and the yield was 84.3%.
（3）. Palmitic acid is chlorinated to palmitoyl chloride, which is then esterified with ascorbic acid and filtered and dried to obtain palmitoyl ascorbate.
